I'm guessing it isn't an original.
Started seeing it online a few years ago and since its been on loads of tattoos etc.
Can't find any info online or whatever.

Got the Thames Ironworks kit through today and it's superb... be careful if ordering as it seems to come up pretty small compared to NORMAL clobber... I'm normally a XL but this XXL is about on par.... glad I got it in time before me yank holiday next week...

That crest has the look of the work a lad did for early OLAS about it - cant remember his surname, John Something or the other, Chandler perhaps?
Brilliant artist, I contacted him and had an A1 Julian Terminator colour cartoon produced for my brother, framed it and gave it to him for Christmas
He still has it and it still looks the bollox

Have you ever seen really old crests? They look fairly medieval, like a standard emblem or coat of arms.
This here looks like a bad tattoo.

Getting back to the original question. Who designed the TIW anchor/hammers badge -- I don't know, but remember it was identified as a 'fake' years back on KUMB.
It has now been adopted as semi-legit in the design of the Betway Cup:

But the Union Jack is, as has been said already, the genuine TIW badge.

Steady, if that's true, I can't help but wonder why? What was the point in that? And to make it look all old and rusty, just seems an awful lot of work for fuck all. I'll admit to being a bit gutted at being misled into thinking that was the original crest.

1) I always thought that crest in the op was the Thames Ironworks one. If it isn't (which seems to be the case), then who on Earth designed it, and why?
2) there's already a thread about this fucking shirt, if you really have something to say about it, put it on there. Admittedly it is to do with West Ham, but why on Earth are we putting new discussions up when there are other discussions about that same subject still live?
